Goldeneye – single male Loch Ruighean an Aitinn (Drumbeg), 31st December (Ian and Pat Evans)

Dipper – 2 on River Inver opposite Little Assynt tree nursery, 30th December (DAH) One of these birds could be heard singing but as both sexes sing it did not help tell us if this was a male.

Iceland Gull – 2 2nd-winter birds, Bay of Culkein, 30th December (DAH)

White-tailed Eagle – immature (possibly 2nd/3rd year) bird flying from north of Stoer Bay and then over Clachtoll, 29th December (DAH)

Curlew – 6 Achmelvich and 11 Stoer, 29th December (DAH)

Great Northern Diver – 2 Loch Roe, 2 Achmelvich Bay and 1 Stoer Bay, 29th December (DAH)

Sparrowhawk – female seen making several passes through trees along Achmelvich road, 29th December (DAH). This record not surprising given the numbers of passerines seen in the same area.

Barn Owl – single near Torbreck, 27th December (Derek Spencer)

Tawny Owl – single bird ‘kewick-ing’ Nedd, 27th December (DAH)

Little Grebe – 2 Oldany Estuary, 27th December (DAH)

Great Northern Diver – 6 Loch Dhrombaig, 27th December (DAH)

Great Tit – 5 on one peanut feeder Culkein Drumbeg, 26th December (DAH)

Merlin – single Culkein Drumbeg, 26th December (DAH)

Goldeneye – 2 (a pair) Loch an Aigeil, 26th December (DAH)

Whooper Swan – 2 Loch Neil Bhain , 26th December (DAH)

White-tailed Eagle – sub-adult on Eilean Chrona, 26th December (DAH). This is most likley the same bird seen on 23rd December; this time it was harrasing two Gannets which were feeding off the island but did not seem to be interested in the Barnacle Geese. This was not the same bird seen doing the same thing on 20th October as that was a much younger bird as could be told from its feathers.

White-tailed Eagle – sub-adult Culkein Stoer, 23rd December (DAH). This bird was trying to feed on a carcase but the Ravens, Hooded Crows and gulls would not allow it to land so after approximately 15 minutes it gave up and flew off towards Clashnessie.
