OTHERS

WHALES, DOLPHINS AND PORPOISE – We have been made aware this week (17th August) of two instances of boat users causing INTENTIONAL DISTURBANCE to pods of Common Dolphin off the coast of Assynt. We all want to be able to enjoy seeing the various species of cetaceans which frequent our waters but it is very important that we do not harm, disturb or otherwise distress these stunning animals. A scheme known as the WiSe (Wildlife Safe) Scheme promotes responsible wildlife watching and it has produced several Codes of Conduct to help those out on the water know how to behave when they encounter any cetaceans, either pods or single animals; Basking Sharks; Seals and Otters. PLEASE take note of these and help protect our marine wildlife.
