Herring Gull – c910 Loch a’ Chairn Bhain, 31st January (DAH). A massive number of these gulls, for Assynt, but the active fish farm in the loch could go some small way to explain their presence.

Barnacle Goose – 42 Culkein Stoer, 17th January (DAH). Three of these birds had alpha-numeric rings on their legs. They have been notified to the ringers and we await the history of the birds.

Great Skua – single bird off Stoerhead Lighthouse hitting Great Black-backed Gull in mid air and forcing it on to the water, 13th January (DAH). This is also a very early record for this migrant species
