Whooper Swan – 47 (adults and juveniles) Loch na Claise, 30th October (E and F Mackenzie). Looks as if the 10 from yesterday gained some neighbours.

Red-throated Diver – single adult Clashnessie Bay, 29th October (DAH)

Whooper Swan – 10 (8 adult 2 juvenile) Loch na Claise, 29th October (DAH). These birds had flown in from the north over Culkein Stoer a few minutes earlier so are very likely to have just arrived from Iceland.

Coal Tit – 5 on garden feeder near Culag Woods, 27th October (Fiona Carter). We are receiving numerous reports of ‘large’ numbers of Coal Tits at the moment. This is a bird which is basically resident but, in some years, there can be very large eruptions of continental birds from further north and east and some of these birds regularly reach Britain.
