  • Woodcock: single bird flew out of watercourse, Balchladich garden (Gordon and Lesley Sleight)
  • Shag: 32 birds on Loch Dhrombaig (DAH)

  • Tawny Owl: pair of birds calling at c9.30pm Culkein Drumbeg (DAH)
  • White-tailed Eagle: single bird flying over Bay of Stoer and heading inland (Gordon Sleight)

  • Waxwing: c20 in Ardvar garden (Beccy Garvey)
  • Brambling: single bird on Culkein Drumbeg garden feeder (Jim and Corinne France)

  • Waxwing: seven birds in Lochinver garden (Julian Jacobson). Exciting!
  • Sparrowhawk: adult male near Lagg (DAH)

  • Buzzard: single bird on wooden pylon above Clashnessie surrounded by c80 Redwing which were on the wires either side (DAH)
  • Goldcrest: single bird feeding in trees around house, Culkein Stoer (DAH)
  • Redshank: five birds Bay of Culkein (DAH)
  • Pink-footed Goose: c60 birds flying north-east over Culkein Drumbeg (DAH). It looked very much like these birds were heading towards gaps in the snow showers.

  • Wheatear: single male on road to Clachtoll (AS)
  • Red-backed Shrike: single 1st-winter bird Unapool (Kevin Starling). This is only the second record of this species in Assynt. Photos Gallery - Birds.  Please note this bird was recorded on 27th September this year but we are only now able to post it on our website.
  • Little Egret: single bird in flooded field next to Loch Fasg an t-Seana Chlaidh, Achmelvich Bridge at 3.00pm (DAH). Also a single bird reported on small lochan, Badnaban at 12.30pm (Les and Liz Pearce)
  • Little Grebe: two birds Loch Fasg an t-Seana Chlaidh, Achmelvich Bridge (DAH)
  • Moorhen: single adult bird Loch an Aigeil (DAH)
  • Fieldfare: 12 birds on overhead wires Clachtoll (DAH)

  • Whooper Swan: nine birds over Stoer Free Presbyterian Church (Claire Belshaw)
  • Yellowhammer: single female Sealladh na mara, Inverkirkaig (Helen Pellant) 
  • Little Egret: single birds reported from Loch an Ordain, Torbreck and Loch Fasg an t-Seana Chlaidh, Achmelvich Bridge (George Morrison). We can't say if this was the same or two separate birds or if it was one of the two birds seen recently at Loch Culag, either way keep watching for them.
  • Curlew: six birds feeding on wet croftland near Clachtoll (AS)
