  • Goldeneye: two males Loch Ruighean an Aitinn, Drumbeg (Ian Evans)

  • Mallard: seven birds (4 male, 3 female) on River Inver opposite Little Assynt Tree Nursery (DAH)

25th November 2018

  • Blackcap: single male bird feeding in Badnaban garden (Dave Bird)
  • Kestrel: single bird flying near Strathcroy (DAH)
  • Song Thrush: six birds feeding in garden, Culkein Drumbeg (DAH)

22nd November 2018

  • Risso’s Dolphin: five animals (3 adults, 2 calves) off Stoer Head Lighthouse (DAH)
  • Hooded Crow: 25 birds near Stoer Head Lighthouse (DAH). Unusual to see so many in one location but it may be due to the fact some cattle had been 'busy' in the area, also it was still mild and so lots of insect food was available
  • Great Northern Diver: four birds off Stoer Head Lighthouse (DAH)
  • Eider: 15 birds (9 male, 6 female) off Raffin (DAH)

21st November 2018

  • Curlew: 18 on crofts at Clachtoll (AS)

20th November 2018

  • Short-eared Owl: single bird heard calling as it flew around house at 9pm, Culkein Drumbeg (Corinne and Jim France) 
  • Sparrowhawk: single bird lying over B869 near Rhicarn (Ennis Jones/Richard Chappell)

  • Barn Owl: Single on fence post by road near Inchnadamph 6pm (AS)

18th November 2018

  • Red Admiral: single butterfly sunning itself, Clachtoll (Ennis Jones/Richard Chappell)
  • Merlin: single bird chasing a pipit, Balchladich (Bill and Val Badger)
  • Otter: single animal swimming across Loch na Bruthaich in the semi-darkness (DAH)
  • Pipistrelle Bat: three animals 'hawking' around the trees along the road from the Oldany River towards Culkein Drumbeg (DAH). Another sign of how mild the weather is.

16th November 2018

  • Great Northern Diver: single bird Bay of Clachtoll (Ennis Jones/Richard Chappell)
  • Snipe: single bird on wetland SE of Broch, Clachtoll (Ennis Jones/Richard Chappell)
  • Turnstone: 18 birds Bay of Culkein (DAH)
  • Grey Heron: seven birds Oldany Estuary (DAH)
  • Pied Wagtail: single winter plumage male, Clachtoll (DAH). Quite a late record but the mild weather must still be providing enough insect food

  • Little Grebe: three birds Loch Fasg an t-Seana Chlaidh, near Achmelvich Bridge (DAH)

  • Shag: c63 birds on rocks below Stoer Head Lighthouse along with three Cormorants (DAH)
  • Redwing: eight birds Balchladich (DAH)
  • Teal: nine birds (3 male, 6 female) Loch na Claise and also a pair on Loch Neil Bhain (DAH)
  • Little Grebe: three birds Loch na Claise (DAH)
  • Peregrine: single bird unsuccessfully chasing a Rock Dove in level flight, near Achnacarnin (DAH)
  • Turnstone: nine birds Bay of Culkein (DAH)
  • Reed Bunting: two 1st-winter males Culkein Stoer (DAH)
  • Starling: c95 birds Culkein Stoer (DAH)

10th November 2018

  • Merlin: single bird in the area above Maiden Loch, Clachtoll (Liz Burns)
  • Woodcock: single bird lifted from side of road at Loch na Bruthaich (DAH)
  • Rook: single adult bird flying between Clashnessie and Totag (DAH). Another single bird record of this corvid species.
  • Grey Heron: six birds Oldany Estuary (DAH)
  • Great Northern Diver: four birds on Loch Dhrombaig (DAH)
