16th February 2019

  • Frog Spawn: around 12 clumps in roadside ditch near Pollachapuill, Culkein Drumbeg (DAH). The first record for the last four years: 2018 - 13 March; 2017 - 19 Feb; 2016 - 3 March; 2015 - 19 Feb.
  • Wigeon: single female Oldany estuary (DAH)
  • Grey Heron: seven birds Oldany estuary (DAH)
  • Curlew: nine birds Oldany estuary (DAH)

  • Toad: single animal Loch Culag (Fiona Carter)

  • Song Thrush: single bird in full song at 7.30am, Nedd (Ian Evans)

  • Great Spotted Woodpecker: single bird in Lochinver garden (Jane and Ian Young)
  • Dipper: three birds on River Inver opposite Little Assynt Tree Nursery (DAH)

10th February 2019

  • Song Thrush: bird heard singing early morning, Achmelvich (Romany Garnett)
  • Pine Marten: single animal near Loch Culag (Fiona Carter)
  • Grey Wagtail: single bird Inverkirkaig (Fiona Carter)

  • Oystercatcher: 22 sheltering at Culkein Stoer at high tide with 28 Common Gulls (AS)
  • Rock Dove: 44 at Clachtoll (AS)

  • Velella velella: single 2cm long specimen of this hydrozoan dead on Clashnessie beach (Ian Evans)
  • Jackdaw: 70+ feeding over several crofts, Elphin (DAH)
  • Goldeneye: single female, Loch Drumbeg; four birds (3 male, 1 female) Loch Ruighean an Aitinn, Drumbeg and a single female on Cam Loch, Elphin (DAH)
  • Curlew: 24 around Clachtoll beach area (AS)

7th February 2019

  • Stonechat: Single male on the B869 to Clachtoll at the foot of the Scron (AS)
  • Skylark: Single bird at Clachtoll Broch (AS)

6th February 2019

  • Whooper Swan: Family group of 2 adults and 3 immature birds in wet area beside River Loanan, Inchnadamph (AS)

4th February 2019

  • Whooper Swan: eight birds (3 adult, 5 immature) Loch an Aigeil (DAH)
  • Dipper: 2 pairs at the old fish hatchery, Loch Veyatie; one pair on the outflow of Cam Loch and one pair on the Abhainn a Chnocain (AS)

  • Woodcock: 3 along side of road (AS)
  • Teal: 3 Birds on Loch Neil Bhain, Stoer including 2 males (AS)
  • Tufted Duck: 3 males on Loch na Clais (AS)
  • Goldeneye: 2 males on Loch na Clais (AS)
  • Golden Plover: 32 birds Culkein Stoer (DAH)
  • Curlew: six birds Culkein Stoer (DAH)
  • Redshank: three birds Bay of Culkein (DAH)

2nd February 2019

  • Golden Plover: At least 12 roosting on flooded grassland at Clachtoll (AS)

  • Tawny Owl: single bird heard calling kee-wik four times at 0320hrs. from roof above bedroom window, Nedd (Ian Evans)
  • Curlew: 15 at Clachtoll near the campsite (AS)

1st February 2019

  • Harbour Porpoise: two in Badnaban Bay (Dave Bird)
  • Thrushes:  2 Mistle Thrush; 1 Fieldfare; 1 Blackbird; 1 Song Thrush and 2 Redwing all feeding close to each other on the ground at Oldany Farm (DAH)
