  • Harbour Porpoise: single adult off Bay of Clachtoll (DAH)

  • Painted Lady: single butterfly in garden of Glendarroch Wood, Baddidarrach (Chris and Fran Barley)

  • Swift: three birds feeding over Stoer (Bill and Val Badger)
  • Cuckoo: bird calling near Stoer (Bill and Val Badger)

27th June 2019

  • Seven-spot Ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata): 11 on raised mound near Stoer Lighthouse (DAH). This is a very unusual record for Assynt given the number present. Photo Gallery - Beetles
  • Harbour Porpoise: two adults and a calf off Stoer Lighthouse (DAH)
  • Sparrowhawk: single bird through Stoer garden (Bill and Val Badger)

26th June 2019

  • Black-throated Diver: single adult bird, Lochan Sgeireach, Stoer (DAH). This is not a breeding loch but is used on occasion by these birds to 'take a break' from parenting duties. Photo Gallery - Birds

  • Painted Lady: single butterfly, Culkein Drumbeg (DAH) and three on Wild Thyme at Stoer Green (Claire Belshaw)

  • Redwing: single bird in garden of Glendarroch Wood, Baddidarrach (Chris and Fran Barley). The bird was perched in a rowan tree and attempting to eat unripe berries before being chased off by a blackbird.

  • Painted Lady: single butterfly towards west end of Uidh an Leothaid, Gleann Leireag (Robin Shrubsole)
  • Osprey: single bird scanning for fish, River Inver near Inveruplan (Robin Shrubsole)
  • Red-breasted Merganser: single female and nine chicks, Loch Kirkaig (Jez & Maggie Allen)

  • Mountain Hare: single animal spooked from below grassy bank, Beinn an Fhuarain plateau (Robin Shrubsole)
  • Ring Ouzel: single male on ascent to Beinn an Fhuarain (Robin Shrubsole)
  • Otter: single animal feeding off Kylesku (DAH)
  • Slow worm: Young slow worm in walled garden at Glencanisp Lodge (Tina Lloyd-Jenkins)
  • White-tailed Eagle: two immature birds drifting east over Culkein Drumbeg (DAH)

  • Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary: single butterfly, Croft 81 Torbreck (Gwen Richards)
  • Risso’s Dolphin: five adults and one calf off Stoerhead Lighthouse (DAH)
  • Mason Wasp (Ancistrocerus oviventris): single insect in a patch of nettles, Stoerhead Lighthouse (Cathleen McGaw). This wasp is not scarce in Highland but is very much under recorded; in fact this is the first record for Assynt! Photo Gallery - Other Insects

  • Small Heath Butterfly: On path to Traligill caves, Inchnadamph (AS)
