Pictures of the Big Freeze in Assynt

December 8th 2010

On 26th November 2010 the temperatures plumeted and the snow started falling. Apart from a brief thaw around the 4th December,  Assynt (and most of Scotland) has been in the grip of white-out conditions. The snow has not been very thick here but the cold temperatures (minimum -12degrees) has meant disruption to schools and made journeys difficult. The wildlife has been suffering and we urge everyone to keep feeding the garden birds.

However the landscape has been transformed to a winter wonderland. These are some of the photographs taken recently.
