  • Osprey: Single bird over the harbour area at Lochinver heading inland (Paul Walker)
  • Peacock butterfly: Single butterfly in Culkein Drumbeg garden (Carol Langford)
  • Adder: Single animal on Drumbeg Peat Road loop (Nick Kirkham)
  • Slow worm: Several reports received, all single animals - Wildlife garden, Lochinver Primary School, 25th May (Sheila Matheson); Baddidarach garden, 30th May (Bob Bazley) and one more in another Baddidarach garden 31st May (Ballal Mirza)
  • Ground-ivy (Glechoma hederacea): Single patch c.5m across in stand of stinging nettle Nedd, Lower Duart (Gwen Richards and Ian Evans)
  • Orange-tip butterfly: Single male flying at edge of woodland Nedd, Duart (Gwen Richards and Ian Evans)

  • Large Red Damselfly: Several damselflies recently emerged at Drumbeg (AS)

  • Common Dolphin: Three animals off Stoer Head Lighthouse (DAH)
  • Harbour Porpoise: Two animals off Stoer Head Lighthouse (DAH)
  • Arctic Skua: Two birds over Stoer Head Lighthouse (DAH)
  • Sandwich Tern: Four birds feeding and calling, Bay of Culkein (Judy Clift)
  • Sedge Warbler: Single bird singing from patch of willow/rushes, Laid road, Clashnessie (Ian Evans)
  • Shag: 14 nests between Old Man of Stoer and the point of Stoer. There were also 53 Kittiwake nests approximately, along with 159 guillemots and 46 razorbills counted on ledges at 5pm (AS)
  • Turtle Dove: Single bird in Culkein Stoer garden (Annella Bulch). The Highland Bird Recorder 'recognised' this individual which had been present in Scourie for a week. It appears to be recovering from some sort of neck/chest trauma and is, and was growing new feathers. No sign of bird the following day.

  • Lesser Redpoll: Pair of birds feeding on nyger seed, Nedd garden feeder (Ian Evans)
  • Goldeneye: Single male, Loch Fasg an t-Seana Chlaidh, Achmelvich road (Judy Clift)
  • Narrow-leaved Helleborine (Cephalanthera longifolia): Single flower spike along road to Achmelvich, just east of Lochside and a further two spikes noted the following day in a similar location (Judy Clift)
  • Turnstone: Seven birds, Balchladich Bay (Russell Powers)

20th May 2021

  • Greylag Goose: Four adult birds and 11 goslings, Loch Drumbeg (DAH)
  • Early Purple Orchid (Orchis mascula): Single plant in flower, Clachtoll crag as per map (Roz Summers and Ian Evans). This is the first record of this species at this location.
  • Cuckoo: Single bird seen south of Clachtoll beach (Derek Powers). Bird been calling since 16 May.
  • Whimbrel: Eight birds on Clachtoll headland (Derek Powers)
