  • Barn Owl: Single bird, flying back and forth over moorland grassland hunting, by Loch Culag (Fiona Carter). 
  • Great Northern Diver: Two birds, Bay of Culkein (Paul Burnett)

  • Long-tailed Duck: Single female bird, Balchladich Bay (DAH)
  • Divers: Four Great Northern and two Red-throated Divers, Balchladich Bay (DAH)
  • Harbour Porpoise: Two animals c.300m off Balchladich (DAH)
  • Otter: Single animal, Kirkaig Point (Mike Dawber).  Saw a second, or possibly the same animal, a km south earlier in the day.

  • Spiked Shieldbug (Picromerus bidens): Single adult insect on stem of Wild Angelica, Angelica sylvestris, Achmelvich road (DAH). This is the first record for this species of shieldbug in Assynt, and the farthest north-west record in the UK. Photo Gallery - Other Insects
  • Common Puffball (Lycoperdon perlatum): Cluster of 10 fruiting bodies on old tree stump, Achmelvich road (DAH). This is one of several species of puffball fungi recorded in Assynt, however the National Biodiversity Network Atlas for Scotland only holds three previous Assynt records of this particular one.
