Virtual Meeting – Canisp and Kylesku
As it’s still not possible to hold our normal indoor events we are very pleased once again to host one virtually via Zoom.
This month we have two exciting presentations arranged –
1. “Flora of the high slopes of Canisp” – Sam Black from Nature Scot will give a 30-minute overview of the High Value open habitat survey of Canisp.
2. “The Kylesku Project – Painting with Sound” – Visually impaired artist Keith Salmon will give a 10-minute introduction to both himself and ‘The Kylesku Project – Painting with Sound’. This audio-visual work is a collaboration between landscape painter Keith, and Ayrshire sound engineers Graham Byron and Drew Kirkland.
Based on sound recordings made on walks near Kylesku, the work comprises 5 large oil paintings and an accompanying 30-minute soundtrack.
The exhibition of this artwork forms part of the Field Club’s own ‘Sounds of Nature Project’ and will be on display in the Marine Room at An Cala Café, Lochinver from Monday 7th June to Saturday 3rd July.
We look forward to seeing you at our Virtual Meeting on Thursday 20th May.
